Our own rule using the four letters of two types

This tool playfully combines two types you already know. It is not an official questionnaire for determining MBTI. Scores sum the rules below; they do not come from studies of couples, relationship satisfaction, or success rates.

Four examples to select and compare

  • INFP × ENFJ: 58 + 12 (two matching letters) + 18 (bonus list) + 4 (different E/I) + 6 (same S/N) + 4 (different J/P) = 102 → capped at 98.
  • INFP × INFP: 58 + 24 (four matching letters) + 12 (identical types) + 6 (same S/N) = 100 → 98.
  • INFP × ENFP: 58 + 18 (three matching letters) + 4 (different E/I) + 6 (same S/N) = 86.
  • ISTJ × ENFP: 58 + 4 (different E/I) + 5 (different T/F) + 4 (different J/P) − 8 (all different) = 63.

The first two examples reach the same cap by different routes. A 98 is not proof that someone is a better match, and a 63 does not mean a bad relationship. Use the tool to ask about real views rather than compare scores.

Three things to discuss instead of relying on a type

  1. Imagine a weekend off and discuss how much time you each want alone and together.
  2. Ask directly whether empathy or solutions are wanted first when sharing worries.
  3. Agree on when and how to communicate changes of plan.

Matching letters do not mean your specific answers will match. The axes show only whether selected letters agree; the questions are prompts to ask the other person.

Changing selections, resetting, and sharing

Selecting two types calculates a result. Clearing either selection removes the old result and URL. Reset clears both types. Random pair simply picks two types; it does not discover a real person's type.

Copy result URL includes both types. Copy test URL shares the opening page with no result. If automatic copying fails, copy the displayed address manually. Invalid or incomplete shared links ask you to select again.

Calculations run in your browser, but result URLs contain both types. Opening a link may leave them in browsing history or server logs. Share only pairs you are comfortable making public.
