A 400 ms initial delay followed by 40 ms intervals gives about 25 repeats per second. This is not the USB polling rate.

Keyboard Repeat Rate
Measure how long automatic key repeat takes to start and the interval between repeats.
Test workspace
Hold a letter key such as A for at least two seconds, then release it.
Ready. Select Start.
Select Start, then press keys in this area.
Input is captured only in the test area. Esc, Tab or moving focus to another field or window ends the test. A computer with a physical keyboard is recommended.

How to use and read the results
- Start and hold one key.
- Check that initial-delay and repeat-interval samples appear.
- Change your operating-system repeat settings and start a new test to compare.
How it works
The first keydown to the first repeat gives the initial delay. Consecutive repeats of the same key give the repeat interval.
