How it works
The normalized remainder of (year−4) divided by 12 selects Rat through Pig. A full date supplies only its Gregorian year; month and day never change the result. Matching years span three 12-year steps in each direction, excluding nonpositive years.
Limitations
- The year changes on January 1 in this tool, not Lunar New Year or Start of Spring.
- Birth time, leap lunar months and the full 60-year stem-branch cycle are not calculated.
- Personality descriptions are cultural entertainment, not predictions.
- Very early years follow the arithmetic cycle, not a reconstruction of historical calendars.
