WIN-J TOOLS LOCAL & SIMPLE
Photo metadata remover
Create a newly encoded copy without copying the original EXIF, GPS or camera metadata. Processing takes place in your browser without uploading the photo.
This tool does not send entered values or selected files to a server. Save any results you need before closing the tab.
How to use
- Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP photo. Convert HEIC to a supported format first.
- Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency. JPEG uses a white background.
- Generate and save the copy, then inspect it with a separate metadata viewer if needed.
Worked example
Saving a GPS-tagged JPEG as PNG creates a new file from its displayed pixels without transferring the original EXIF block. A format change may increase file size.
Method and limitations
The browser decodes pixels onto a canvas and encodes a new file. Original EXIF, XMP and IPTC blocks are not copied. This tool does not read or edit individual camera metadata fields.
The encoder may add basic format or resolution information to the new file. Visible faces, addresses and text remain. Color-profile and orientation handling depend on the browser, and re-encoding JPEG can affect quality.
Frequently asked questions
Does it remove the filename or text visible in the photo?
No. The output name is based on the original filename and visible content is preserved. Rename the download and use an opaque image cover where appropriate.
