Practical guide

Separate roulette odds from the spinning animation

Add one option per line and choose how duplicate entries and winning options are handled. The selected index is decided before the wheel finishes spinning.

Who this helps

  • Groups choosing an activity or meal
  • Organizers selecting a topic visually

When to use this tool

  • Choose one of five meal options.
  • Use repeated entries as visible weights.

From input to a checked result

  1. 1

Enter between 2 and 100 options.

  2. 2

Choose whether duplicate text should be merged.

  3. 3

Decide whether the winning option should be removed.

  4. 4

Select a spin speed and start the wheel.

  5. 5

Read the result and check the remaining pool before another spin.

Example 1

Five unique options

Input
A, B, C, D, E on separate lines
Result
Each entry has one of five equal sectors.

Spin duration does not change the selected index.

Example 2

Weighted names

Input
A, A, B; duplicate removal off
Result
A occupies two sectors; B occupies one.

A has two entries. If winner removal is on and A wins, both A entries are removed.

How it works

Web Crypto rejection sampling selects a uniform entry index, with Math.random() fallback when unavailable. The animation rotates the chosen sector under the pointer. Shuffling uses Fisher–Yates.

Limitations

  • Equal probability applies to entries; repeated labels create weights.
  • Matching for duplicate and winner removal ignores letter case.
  • Only the current tab holds the history; it is not a tamper-proof record.
  • The wheel needs at least two entries for another spin.

Does a slow spin improve the odds?

Why did several identical options disappear?

Winner removal deletes all entries matching the winning label.

Can a single remaining option be spun?

No. The tool asks for at least two options.
