WIN-J TEXT & DEVELOPMENT
Text line sorter
Sort text lines in ascending or descending order. Choose natural ordering for item2 and item10, case sensitivity and blank-line removal, then copy or save the sorted list.
Result
Duplicates are retained. Sorting source code or CSV one line at a time can break syntax or record relationships, so keep your original.
How to use
- Paste one item per line.
- Choose text or natural ordering, direction, case handling and blank-line behavior.
- Review the order, then copy or save the result.
Example
For separate lines item10, item2 and item1, natural ascending order returns item1 → item2 → item10. Duplicate entries remain.
Method and limits
Uses Intl.Collator for the current page language. Natural order compares numeric parts in text; it is not mathematical sorting of signed or decimal numbers. Ties retain their original order. Line contents remain unchanged, while output line endings use the first style found in the source. Exact collation can vary with browser language data.
Frequently asked questions
Are duplicate lines removed?
No. Every duplicate remains. Blank lines are removed only when that option is selected.
Does natural mode sort numeric values mathematically?
It is intended for text such as item2 and item10. It is not a mathematical sorter for decimal or negative number lists.
