WIN-J TEXT & DEVELOPMENT
URL slug generator
Turn titles into URL path slugs. Keep Unicode letters and digits, or use an ASCII mode, with hyphen or underscore separators and optional lowercase conversion.
Result
These are slug candidates. The tool does not encode full URLs, check uniqueness or configure redirects.
How to use
- Enter one title per line.
- Choose Unicode or ASCII mode and the word separator.
- Check the maximum length and review uniqueness and reserved paths in your own site.
Example
Unicode lowercase mode turns A Simple Guide to JSON into a-simple-guide-to-json. Café & Tools becomes café-tools, or cafe-tools in ASCII mode.
Method and limits
Normalizes text to NFC, then joins groups of letters and digits. ASCII mode removes decomposable accents but does not transliterate other scripts. Emoji and punctuation become word boundaries. The maximum is 1–200 Unicode code points; exceeding it produces an error instead of truncation. Whitespace-only lines remain blank.
Frequently asked questions
Does this translate non-Latin titles to English?
No. Unicode mode keeps the original script. ASCII mode removes unsupported letters and reports an error if none remain.
Are long slugs shortened automatically?
No. A line exceeding your limit produces an error. Edit the title or increase the maximum length yourself.
