Mouse wheel scroll test
Inspect wheel input in all four directions and rapid reversals. View movement totals by original unit and recent input records.
One wheel notch may produce multiple events. Trackpad and momentum input are included; different units are kept separate.

Inputs and measurements stay on this page. Reloading clears the records.
How to use
- Prepare the test and place the pointer inside the area.
- Scroll in one direction, then the other. Horizontal wheels can be checked too.
- Review direction counts and totals by unit, then stop recording.
Example
A down event followed by an up event within 0.5 seconds adds one rapid vertical reversal, including deliberate direction changes.
Method and interpretation
Reads wheel horizontal and vertical deltas and their pixel, line or page unit. Signed totals stay separate by unit. The chart shows the latest 60 vertical inputs.
Does not measure physical wheel notches or actual document travel. Trackpad momentum and natural scrolling settings affect input. Ctrl+wheel zoom is excluded.
Frequently asked questions
Do many reversals mean a faulty wheel?
Deliberate changes and trackpad momentum also count. Scroll slowly in a consistent direction and look for repeated unintended opposite input.
When does normal page scrolling return?
Stop recording or move the pointer outside the area. Normal wheel scrolling is prevented only inside the area during active recording.
