Cooking unit converter

oz means a mass ounce; fl oz means a US fluid ounce. A US cup is about 236.588 mL; a metric cup is 250 mL. US spoons differ from metric teaspoons (5 mL), metric tablespoons (15 mL) and Australian tablespoons (20 mL). Mass and volume are not converted without an ingredient density.

How to use

  1. Paste the ingredient list. Use one ingredient and one quantity with a unit per line.
  2. Enter original and target servings, then choose the result unit format.
  3. Calculate, review scaled and unchanged lines, then copy the result or save it as text.

Calculation example

Scaling 10 servings to 70 gives a multiplier of 7. Soybean paste 500 g → 3,500 g, anchovies 50 g → 350 g, onions 2 pcs → 14 pcs and tofu 1.5 pcs → 10.5 pcs. An instruction such as ‘simmer for 10 minutes’ stays unchanged.

Method and limits

This tool scales recognized numbers and units in your browser without AI. Fractions and decimals are supported. Instructions, times, temperatures, ranges, multiple quantities and unknown units stay unchanged. English cup means a US cup; Korean tablespoon and teaspoon terms mean 15 mL and 5 mL. Bare Korean, Japanese and Chinese cup labels remain unchanged because their standard is ambiguous. Mass and volume are not interconverted. Cooking time, temperature and seasoning do not necessarily scale with servings; review the result. Input supports up to 20,000 characters and 300 lines, servings from 0.001 to 100,000, and a multiplier up to 1,000,000.

Frequently asked questions

Does AI interpret the recipe?

No AI or external API is used. Rules identify supported quantities and units and apply a multiplier. Scaled lines are marked, and ambiguous lines stay unchanged.

Are cooking time and temperature scaled too?

Time and temperature are not multiplied. Adjust cooking time, pan size, salt and spices to suit the cooking conditions when increasing servings.

Can I convert oz and lb to grams?

Mass ounces (oz) and pounds (lb) can be converted to grams. US fluid ounces (fl oz) are volume units and convert to mL. Volume is not converted to grams without a density.

Is my ingredient list stored on the server?

Pasted recipes are processed in the browser without being sent to the server. Copy the result or save it as a text file.
