Worked example
1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6. With 12 decimal places, the display is approximately 0.833333333333….
Method and limits
Each numerator and denominator accepts up to 200 digits excluding the sign. BigInt arithmetic and a GCD reduce the fraction. Zero denominators and division by zero are rejected. Decimal displays use 1–24 digits of long division.
Questions and answers
What happens with a negative denominator?
The denominator is made positive and the sign moves to the numerator. For example, 1/-2 becomes -1/2.
Can I enter decimals or mixed numbers directly?
Inputs accept integer numerators and denominators only. Enter 0.5 as 1/2 and 2 1/3 as 7/3.
