WIN-J NUMBER TOOLS
Running pace calculator
Calculate pace, finish time or distance from two known values. Supports kilometres and miles, with average speed and estimated duration.
Results
This assumes constant average speed and does not model hills, stops or fatigue. Displayed times are rounded to the nearest second; sub-second paces can display as 0:00.
How to use
- Choose whether to calculate pace, time or distance, then select a distance unit.
- Enter the two known values. Use 25:00 or 1:25:00 for time. A pace of 5:30 means 5 minutes 30 seconds per selected unit.
- Review total time, pace and speeds in km/h and mph. After changing units, check the inputs and calculate again.
Worked example
Covering 5 km in 25:00 gives a pace of 5:00/km and a speed of 12 km/h. At that pace, 10 km takes an estimated 0:50:00.
Method and limits
Distance inputs range from 1e-9 to 1e9 units and times are at most 1e12 seconds. Time and pace use min:sec or h:mm:ss; seconds must be 00–59. One mile equals 1.609344 km. Changing the unit reinterprets inputs without converting their numbers.
Questions and answers
Does 1:30 mean 1 hour 30 minutes?
Two fields mean minutes and seconds, so 1:30 is 90 seconds. Enter 1:30:00 for 1 hour 30 minutes.
Does this predict my actual race result?
It only calculates the time at a constant entered pace; it does not assess athletic ability.
